Software consulting: clear technical decisions before you spend the budget
TL;DRSenior, hands-on advice on the decisions that are expensive to get wrong: architecture, technology choices, build vs. buy, vendor proposals, and how to use AI in your product and team. From a one-off review to an ongoing fractional CTO role.
The problem
Big technical decisions often get made without anyone senior in the room: which stack to use, whether to build or buy, which agency to trust, whether the current code can carry the next stage. Getting them wrong costs months and budgets.
Our approach
Our advice comes from engineers who build and run software every day, so it's practical, not theoretical. We look at your situation, tell you plainly what we'd do and why, and put it in writing so your team or any vendor can act on it.
What you get
- Architecture and code review with prioritized recommendations
- Technology and stack recommendation, with the trade-offs spelled out
- Build vs. buy analysis with a rough cost and timeline
- Independent review of vendor proposals and estimates
- AI adoption plan: where AI helps in your product and processes, and where it doesn't
- Product discovery workshop and a written scope
- Fractional CTO: regular technical leadership without a full-time hire

Frequently asked questions
- Do we have to hire you to build it afterwards?
- No. The recommendation is yours to use with your own team or any vendor. If you want us to build it, we can, but the advice doesn't depend on it.
- How is consulting priced?
- One-off reviews and workshops have a fixed price agreed upfront. Ongoing advice, such as a fractional CTO role, is a monthly retainer for an agreed number of days.
- How long does a review take?
- A focused architecture or proposal review usually takes 1 to 2 weeks. A discovery workshop takes a few days, plus about a week to write up the scope.
- What is a fractional CTO?
- A senior technical lead who works with you part-time, for example a few days a month. They own technical decisions, review your team's or vendor's work, and help you hire, without the cost of a full-time executive.
- Can you review another agency's work?
- Yes. We review code, architecture, and estimates from other vendors, tell you plainly whether they're sound, and tell you what to ask for if they aren't.
